According to The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, breast augmentation is the most common plastic surgery. With an estimated  313,735 surgeries performed in 2018, there are many women suffering from negative side effects that go unidentified. Here is the truth about breast implant illness.

My experience with having breast implants is the hardest thing I have ever talked about publicly.

13 years ago I made a decision that would forever change my life.  I am telling my story to educate and inspire women all over the world, on the downsides and complications that can come from not loving yourself and trying to change how you were made.

If you have breast implants and suffer from unexplained symptoms out of the blue you may be experiencing breast implant illness.

Three major symptoms of Breast Implant Illness

  • Food sensitivities and gut heart issues. Never had any food intolerances until you had breast implants?  Well, you are not alone.  Most women who have breast implants develop sensitivities to many foods that are commonly eaten.
  • Hormonal Imbalances. Yes as females hormone imbalances are so common; but they shouldn’t be so common if you live a healthy lifestyle, eat a well rounded and balanced diet, and are not in menopause.  Of course, hormonal imbalances can even happen to a healthy woman if there are other underlying issues, so get checked out if you are experiencing anything unusual!
  • Adrenal dysfunction. Your adrenals are responsible for producing essential hormones needed to live, such as your sex hormones and cortisol.  They are responsible for the fight or flight mode that helps us handle stress and other functions of the body. When your immune system is working hard to fight off the implants (foreign objects) your adrenal glands will be taxed more than it can handle causing fatigue and dysfunction.

Is breast implant illness real?

Now you may be reading this saying, I’m fine, my implants don’t hurt, they aren’t leaking plus they look great! Well, I say good for you!  But eventually, you may not be feeling or thinking the same way.  It’s bound to happen. Just because your implants are intact and not leaking doesn’t mean that you are immune to the reaction of implants and that your body is healthy.

Whether it’s 6 months, 10 years, or 25 years, your body will start breaking down.  And it starts off slow with maybe one thing.  Then that one thing turns into two, then three symptoms, and so on.  In the support groups I belong to we all say it’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when. For me (and thousands of other women) breast implant illness is real.

If you have breast implants, please pay attention to your body. 3 Steps to Healing Breast Implant Illness

Please understand I am not a doctor, and no coach at bodhi is qualified to give medical advise. The information you are about to read is based upon my exerperience with my healing of breast implant illness. Consider that your disclaimer. 🤗

Step 1. Get Your Implants Removed.

Your body is not going to heal until your breast implants are fully removed. So, logically the first step is to schedule an appointment with a doctor who has experience with removing breast implants. This includes the capsules; the scar tissue that forms around your implants. My doctor (Dr. Buinewicz) was wonderful, he made me feel comfortable while coaching me through the process.

Step 2. Diet – Eliminate All Inflammatory Foods

I self diagnosed myself as highly gluten sensitive back in 2011. So, eliminating gluten from my diet was easier since I had pain when I ate it. Gluten is found in certain starchy foods like pasta, bread, and oatmeal and is known as an inflammatory food. Inflmmation is your body’s immune system’s response to a stiumulus. It’s a natural healing mechansism that helps our body overcome trauma. Not all inflammation is bad, for example if you were to fall and hurt your knee, your body immedialtely sends blood, nutrients and hydration to the effected area. This supports the healing process. However, when your immune system is trying to also fight the (un) natural breast implants your adrenal system goes into overdirive.

When healing breast implant illness, your immune system needs all the strength it has to get healthy.  By eliminating all inflammatory foods from your diet, you decrease the “trauma” and overworking of your adrenal system.

Step 3. Exercise lightly.

Foreign objects in your body like breast implants are causing toxins in your body. When we exercise intensely, our body uses lactic acid to help recover muscle tissue that became damaged during workouts. Lactic acid is a natural healing property, and is a good thing! However, when your body is already trying to fight off the (un) natural breast implants the extra energy used to break down lactic acid is energy not spent on healing.

Exercising daily will keep blood flowing and help your body’s detoxification process. But, back of your intensity. Keep it to light weight training and cardio exercises that allow you to break a sweat but, avoid overexertion.
