My MIND and my MOOD are really what have improved the most.countable has changed my life
When was the exact moment you decided to transform?
Very soon after my father was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer
What did you see when you looked in the mirror before you started your journey and what do you see now?
Before, I saw a person who talked a lot and thought a lot about what it means to live a healthy lifestyle but, I never actually followed through with it. I saw a person who was nowhere near what their potential could be.
How much weight have you lost?
For me, I was not overweight to begin with but, I was still unhealthy. I didn’t exercise, I had low energy, my temper was short, I found it hard to focus in my professional life. My body has gotten much stronger and more toned but my MIND and my MOOD are really what have improved the most.
What was your biggest challenge or obstacle?
Keeping up with the gym even on days when I didn’t want to go was a big obstacle for me. But, I realized the solution to this problem is DISCIPLINE. To me, that means you show up every session and you give it the best you can that day. Not every day is going to be your best but, you have to keep consistent with the process in order to really reap the benefits. For me, since my motivation was mostly about mental health benefits, showing up makes me feel like I am consciously making a healthy choice for my overall wellbeing.
What do you consider is your biggest accomplishment?
Being able to do hundreds of different exercises and do them with proper form.
What’s the one word that comes to mind when you want to describe yourself now?
Balanced. I feel that my body and mind are BOTH healthy.
What are you most proud of?
Feeling genuinely STRONG. I feel so strong now and I notice it throughout everyday activities whether it’s carrying groceries or doing work around the house.
What would you say to someone who is contemplating making a healthy life style change?
It’s an investment. Every muscle you strengthen is a little investment in your health and wellbeing. As you become stronger, it becomes easier to become even MORE strong.
One word of advice for someone who has just begun their transformation journey?
Stick with it. This is not an overnight change and there are going to be challenges but, the payoff is more than worth it. Think big and think longterm.
